What the bottle of the future looks like
The bottle of the future is made of paper. The Paper Bottle Company - PABOCO - is working with Betech to develop paper bottles as a sustainable alternative to traditional plastic or glass packaging.
The paper bottles are expected to go into mass production by the end of 2025 and several global companies are already testing them for their products.
Inflatable silicone core shapes the paper bottles
The paper bottles consist of 57% FSC-certified paper fiber and 43% recycled PET (polyethylene terephthalate) polymer film. They are intended to be recyclable and 100% bio-based with a thin film of degradable PEF bioplastic.
At Betech, we have developed an inflatable core of silicone rubber to help shape the paper bottles - and create the cavity of the bottles.

Right now, global companies such as Carlsberg, l'Oreal, Coca Cola and The Absolut Company are testing paper bottles on their products. So while it may seem crazy right now that paper could contain and protect food and beverages, it will most likely be a reality in just a few years.
