We receive questions from customers about whether products in our portfolio contain PFAS and how Betech sees the development in this area. Below you can see the current situation and how Betech relates to the PFAS issue.
PFAS are substances where fluorine is bound to carbon. While some PFAS can be harmful and persistent in the environment, the polymeric PFAS used in some of our engineering plastics and rubber materials are not considered hazardous. Our PFAS-based materials include:
PFAS in polymeric materials, as found in some of our plastic and rubber products, provide highly resistant and durable products that are ideal for sealing solutions in demanding industrial applications.
Betech closely follows international PFAS regulations to ensure that all our products comply with current legislation. We work directly with our suppliers to guarantee responsible sourcing and production.
PFAS (per- and polyfluorinated alkyl substances) include thousands of man-made chemicals used widely in consumer and industrial products, including non-stick cookware, stain-resistant textiles, seals, self-lubricating bearings and many, many others.
The PFAS category includes all fluoropolymers such as PTFE, PVDF, PFA FEP, FKM, FVMQ and FFKM.
Together with four other countries, Denmark has submitted a proposal for a total ban on the use of PFAS in the EU. Betech is following the development of the case in close collaboration with our partners. At present, nothing has been decided, as a possible regulation in the use of PFAS is still at the proposal stage.
When there is clarification in the EU, Betech will of course take steps to comply with the legislation in force at any given time.

Betech stores and handles materials that may come into contact with food in end-user applications. Therefore, Betech is subject to the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration's "Smiley" inspection scheme.
