PPAP and APQP - What and why?
PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) is a practical and thorough method that covers all aspects of process and product quality for new series production. PPAP is part of the project management tool APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning).
The PPAP method ensures that we as a supplier manufacture product parts and components according to your company's requirements and specifications, and at Betech we use the following core tools, among others:
- Process mapping
- PFMEA (process failure analysis)
- Control plan
- MSA (measurement system analysis)
Also APQP 4Wind
APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) and PPAP were developed under IATF 16949, a global technical specification and quality management standard for the automotive industry, but today other industries have also adopted the method. For example, Betech works with the wind turbine industry and has implemented the PPAP process from APQP 4Wind.
APQP is a project management methodology originally developed for the automotive industry, but today it is also used in other industries, including wind energy. APQP focuses on planning quality control throughout the entire process from product development to production.
At Betech, we support both the PPAP and APQP methods to the extent that it is relevant at our place in the value chain. This means that we have a structured approach to quality management and perform the required documentation, process control and continuous improvement.
Our QA manager is certified in the APQP 4Wind process, and together with a long-standing collaboration with the wind industry, this enables us to deliver critical product items and solutions for wind turbine manufacturing around the world.
